Wild Cottage Garden
GARDEN
Wendy Murray
23 Starvation Gully Road, Pigeon Bay
My garden is a long acre of wild and abundant vegetation. A stream runs through it, which is still in summer and can be a raging torrent in winter. One of its best features is the view to the sea – only 230 metres away. Both indigenous and exotic trees have grown exponentially since we purchased the property in 2001. Birdlife is prolific; Kereru take reign in the trees, enjoying the first bite of the apricots. Bellbirds sing, and fantails dance. There is nothing formal about my property, but it has a rustic beauty all of its own.
